This item is from an estate, being a once beautiful and possibly important doll. She is an example of "Nancy Lee", an Arranbee doll of circa the 40-50s. There are no identifying marks on her, or on the clothes. All appears to be original, though. The doll has been played with a great deal, but also gives evidence that she was cared for at the same time, as evidenced by the fact she still has her original shoes. The hair seems to have been cut in the bangs area, and possibly the side pigtails, although they may have always been short. The face seems to have been scrubed around the mouth, in playing "wash up" or, possibly, to change the skin tone. The dress is taffeta, over a muslin petticoat. Her underpants are original and held with a brass safety pin. Underneath the tattered taffeta all cloth is about as when new. The clothes were really very well constructed. It is the outer dress that is so distressed. It is quite soiled and tattered. She may have had a pair of gloves, or, that article on the left arm may have been a single glove, a la a "JO" (Little Women) doll, or, may not have been a glove at all but an arm ornament. One shoulder of the dress has a puffy sleeve, the other, the side with the lace on the arm, has, or had, a bow at the shoulder. She is exactly 13 1/2 inches tall, and will stand alone on her two, flat feet when balanced upright. Selling "as is" at the buyers' choice to restore or treasure. "Doll People" will decide!!!!!!!!!!! At first, it was considered that she is a Mme. Alexander creation.  But, then, kind hearts quickly sent information to this posting that she is an Arranbee "Nancy Lee."  (see Q&A below).............
