    Description

1907 PARDRIDGE & BLACKWELL's Department Store Detroit, MI Contest Button Pin.
In the fall of 1907, Pardridge and Blackwell's Department Store held a contest whereby they had Whitehead and Hoag print out thousands of numbered celluloid pins that could be redeemed for the same number prize in the store. 400 gifts throughout the store would have a number on them. If your pin matched the number, you won the item. I've included a photo of an advertisement from the Detroit Free Press article explaining the promotion for you to see. Pardridge and Blackwell moved into their new building (shown on the pin) in the fall of 1906. The building was located between Monroe and Gratiot and Farmer. Today it is a parking structure with some store fronts. The Heart of Detroit was P & B's trademark. The pin is 7/8" in diameter and has some discoloration around the perimeter. It's a nice piece of Detroit History and obviously is limited. Some similar buttons with the store's trademark and name can be found, but, this was a limited promotion button.

CT's Treasure Haven is a full time business devoted to bringing quality vintage items to the marketplace. 95% of what we sell is used. We describe issues as best we can. We have been selling on E-bay since the beginning, in the 1990's.
The cost of shipping is increasingly moving upwards. We use USPS exclusively. Please keep in mind that E-bay takes approximately 13%-15%  of your shipping dollar before we ever see it. Due to recent changes in E-Bay taking over payment processing from Paypal, it now takes up to 4 days to see your shipping dollar after you pay for your item.
