    Description

    Beautiful little Christmas Gifts Brochure from Chicago department store Mandel Bros with Art Deco cover designed by the famous Spanish/American artist Julio De Diego. De Diego (1900-1979) "arrived in the U.S. in 1924 and settled in Chicago two years later. The artist established himself with a commission for the decoration of two chapels in St. Gregory’s Church. He also worked in fashion illustration, designed magazine covers, and developed a popular laundry bag for the Hotel Sherman. De Diego began exhibiting through the Art Institute of Chicago in 1929...." (from the artist's biography) and the rest as they say is history. Signed as shown. The brochure measures 6" by 3 1/8" closed and 6" by 12 1/2" when open.
