    Description

    WHAT A GREAT FIND
    Herein lays an amazing Historical Find, documenting the Asian Pacific Fleet leading up to WWII thru to the end, thru the lens of Chief Bolson’s mate George P Baker, from the mid 1930’s thru 1946 ending up on the Atlantic coast. In all, there are at least 1,645 pictures in 2 albums. As best as I could count (14x 8”x10”) At least 19ea colorized  (8x 3”x8”), (6x) taken at night w/special lens, (5x 6”x8”). The rest are various sizes. Lots of ephomeria.
    The Brown leather album
    is filled with naval photos (583 photos) and time in the Pacific thru to its final destination in the Atlantic in 1946. It is a mixture of ships, deckhands, R&R and families.

    The Black leather album
    is filled with naval photos (1,062 photos) covering the China/Japan War with troubling photos of the carnage. The night bombing/burning of Pootung China by the Japanese, with 2 photos of USS Augusta in Background. TWELVE Naval Dispatches to ship announcing that Italy, Germany and Japan had just entered the war Dec 11 1941. It shows ornate colorized photos of 1930’s Shanghai temple and archways and pretty girls. Both albums have intro By G.P. Baker while on the USS Isabel in Shanghai, China (Admiral Yarnell’s Yacht).
    Photos of Gateway to the Great Wall of China and the wall, Nanking, Chefoo, Peiping, Peiking, Yokohama Japan, Tsingtao, Hong Kong BCC, execution of bandits and looters, Bankok, Siam, Bali with topless natives,Typhoon Chefoo 1939, Torpedo, depth charge and range practices, mines.
    Overall condition is good, but keep in mind the age. Photos shown are representative of all PIX in album. Some pix are very good, most are good and some are good but show signs of aging by yellowing or fading and some may have some warpage.
    The 2 albums weigh 18 pounds and with shipping material, this should not exceed 25 pounds. We will insure the package. FREE shipping within the contiguous 48 states.
