In 2017 the RCM issued a very limited Mintage series to showcase the medals and badges of Canada.
The Canada Sacrifice medal is given to members of the Canadian Armed Forces who are wounded in the line of duty. A parallel to the Purple Heart that’s given to our wounded soldiers here in the U.S.
When the RCM decides to make a coin to Honor Canada, the RCMP or the Armed Forces of Canada they pull no stops. They produced this marvel of a coin for the occasion.
Any issuance of medals or honours in Canada have to be approved by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth. As such you will see the Crown atop of the coin.
It depicts a 100 year Anniversary. Nothing is issued by the RCM by chance.
In 1917 all 4 of Canada’s armed divisions fought together and won the Battle of Vimy Ridge. That battle is said to have formed Canada’s identity.
The center of the coin is the medal that is presented to the wounded soldiers. A small piece of gratitude to those who fight so we can be free.
It doesn’t matter how many pictures I take or how good they may or may not be, unless you are holding this coin in your hand there no description or pictures that can describe its beauty and design.
This coin is difficult to photograph. Although the pictures are outdoors, the sun is not hitting the coin direct. It would not be possible to take a proper picture otherwise. It’s scorching outside as well.
Despite all this the coin is perfect. Any shadows or glare is from the sun or my shadow against the coin. Its light years nicer in hand.
The outdoor photos were taken at 10:00 am in my yard in Naples, Florida. The indoor pictures at around the same time in natural light. No fancy lighting.

The coin has a discounted opening price. Although I am not sure, there appears to be a flaw on the box. It’s not broken or torn but it does not meet my standards,
Other people don’t mention these things. I do. It matters to me. I like to be precision accurate.
