    Description

This is a truly rare treasure.  A collection of 2 photographs taken between 1880 and 1889 by British Photographer Francis Bedford.  One depicts the Town Of Chester from Curzon Park Bridge, the second is a view of the Chester Cathedral Choir Bench. Mr. Bedford lived from 1812 to 1894. He helped found the Royal Photographic Society in 1853 and has the distinction of being the first photographer to accompany a Royal Tour when he was invited by Queen Victoria on her travels to the Far East in 1862.  On February 19, 2009, the Swann Gallery in New York set an auction record for Bedford's work: "Photographic Pictures During The Tour in the East" which sold for 2,000.  The 2 photographs being offered here are approximately 5 x 7 and are mounted on either side of a 10.5 x 12.5 backing board. They depict various locations in England. Both Photographs are signed. NOTE: THESE ARE TWO ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPHS ATTACHED FRONT AND BACK TO A SINGLE PHOTO ALBUM BACKING BOARD. They will be shipped promptly in protective packaging. Additional shipping charges apply to international orders. See Shipping and Payments for details.
