VINTAGE AUERBACH'S  DEPARTMENT STORE PAPER SHOPPING BAG WITH RECEIPT

Description

This is a vintage Auerbach's white with gold birds and writing -  paper bag along with a receipt for a sale that cost .52 cents on July 20th. Wouldn't we love to have had the year printed on that receipt? With such a small total sale amount this would have to be dated to at least the 1960's? The bag itself is in very good condition with only the usual creasing that one would expect. It measures 7.5 X 5 inches.
In the post-World War II era and throughout the 1960's, Auerbach's department store, at the corner of Broadway and State in Salt Lake City, stood out as a destination where shoppers — particularly women — could go to feel like they were someplace sophisticated. It closed it's doors in 1979.
